St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tierra Nueva Dos began as a squatter community on the outskirts of Guatemala City, Guatemala. The two communities began a relationship of cultural, spiritual, and personal exchange in 1993. Both communities share a devotion to peace, justice, and equality of all peoples. St. Joan of Arc is deeply involved in realizing those ideals in America. Recently, the church has embraced the need to be a global advocate for peace and justice. 
Tierra Nueva II shares the same commitment to peace and justice but in a different setting. Guatemala has been involved in a 34 year civil war that has only recently ended. In 1996 peace accords were signed that started Guatemala on a new journey of building equality in the aftermath of a war amongst brothers and sisters. These two "like" communities found each other with the help an international organization called Sister Parish Inc. The relationship has grown immensely via many forms of communication. Three delegations of St. Joan of Arc parishioners have visited and lived with their sister community over the last 3 years. Now, the 1st delegation from TNII is set to visit St. Joan of Arc and the state of Minnesota. The delegates are Gregorio Paz, Sandra Clementina Larios(18), Hilda de Leon Lopez(19), Carlos Lionel Sosa Escobar(18), Aura Marina Gozalez Zona de Quiroz and her husband Paul Jacobo Quiroz Ramirez, and Bernardo de Jesus Batres Quevedo. They will be accompanied by a coordinator from Sister Parish Inc. in Guatemala, Jackie Arreaza. From Thursday, April 2nd to Tuesday, April 14th, they will live with SJA'ers, immerse themselves in Minnesota's culture, and build a closer "hermanamiento".
