"To Fargo(not the movie)" After a long and late day yesterday, we were able to sleep in until 8:00am
and get a leisurely start at the cabin. Louise graced us with a Guatemalan
breakfast - fantastico! Time for a brief walk near the cabin before we
piled into the van for more On the Road Adventure.
| A brief stop in Bemidji allowed us to visit Paul Bunyon and have lunch at KFC. Then we had ice
cream sandwiches in the van on the way to Itasca. We walked across the
rocks at the headwaters of the Mississippi and found enough snow by the
parking lot for a snowball fight. Hilda and Sandra were winning the battle against Carlos in the picture. | | From there, back in the van to Fargo. | |
We were greeted with
a wonderful welcome from the people in Fargo. We had dinner together then
some conversations with Darcy Ache about her work with recent imigrants in
Fargo. There was also some discussion between the sister parish committee from
Faith Lutheran and the Guatemalans which provided some insight into the
struggles the Hermanamiento between Faith Lutheran and La Isla, Guatemala has experienced. We had a brief performance by the choir here and then a
discussion with Rosie Gonzalez regarding her work with the migrant farm
workers.
The Sister Parish Committees of SJA and TNII hope you can attend as many events during the delegation as possible. |
